In your life, have you ever experienced times when you look back on an event in your life and later see how God closed one door and a new one opened for you?
Personally, I am a person who usually finds it hard to make decisions, especially if it is a bigger, life type decision. Isn’t it hard to know sometimes whether you are making the “right” decision or not? So, it is actually easier if through natural circumstances or events in life that you can see it was really the Lord closing one door and opening another.

The Lord brought this topic of closed doors to my mind more clearly when I recently made time to connect with a friend of mine who I hadn’t really visited with in over a good year. The Lord had recently put on my heart that I wanted to check in with this particular friend, but last I knew she worked at a school, one that was quite a hike each day, so I figured with the new school year starting recently that we wouldn’t be able to connect.
How I love to see God’s perfect timing in our lives….even with the “little” things. At a recent open house at my youngest son’s school, as only the Lord can do, this gal and I bumped into each other. When I mentioned wanting to connect with her, much to my surprise, she said she was no longer working at the school! So, three days later we met to go walking and catching up on life with one another. It sure is a blessing to connect with others and share the Lord working in our lives.

Some of our conversation that day involved sharing how the Lord recently closed doors on both of our previous jobs and opened new opportunities for us. It was a blessing to reflect on that in my life….sometimes it helps for someone to point these things out to me. 😃
My friend’s story was very interesting and more than once I had goosebumps in seeing how the Lord works in our lives to show His working everything out for our good.

Even though in both of our situations, we are not sure exactly why the Lord closed one door and where the opened door will eventually lead to, but it gives us a chance to see:
The blessing in the positive part of the door closing on the old
The opportunities for growth in our lives and in our faith in the open doors
That we don’t know what His exact plan or reasons for the change is but we need to keep walking through the open door….one step at at time
That He is leading our lives
We need to continue to keep trusting Him.

There is a lyric from a song called Walk by Faith, by Colin Dyer, that I find encouraging which can apply to our faith and trust in the Lord through the opening and closing of the doors in our lives. It says,
“And I don’t know what lies ahead, but I can’t do much about it if I tried. So, I walk, yeah I walk, I walk by faith.”
Let me encourage you to walk by faith through the closed and open doors in your life! God wants only the best for His children.

For we live by faith, not by sight. –2 Corinthians 5:7 (NIV)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. –Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Marilyn: Thank you for your kind words. I am honored that you read. 🙂 I’m so happy to hear about the puppy!! I do miss you seeing & visiting with you…indoor baseball will be starting soon! Be blessed, my friend!
We often look at closed doors with a negative, hurt feeling – or at least I do. We have to keep trusting that what was behind the closed door was never good for us anyway.
I think that is true, Marie, but always keep looking for the positive with the open door. Thanks for reading and blessing, Marie!
What do you know? Perfect timing again❤️ Why do I ever doubt🙄🤦🏽♀️ Thanks for visiting and reminding😊
I know!! God’s Presence and perfect timing! Thank you~ Time to get busy writing, my friend! Congrats on the new job too!!
