- How I love the “God moments” that God orchestrates in the simple circumstances in our days. Yes, He always provides for us which makes me smile; I am in such awe of His goodness!
It was a day that started with attending a funeral to support a manager of mine and then time spent at the Drs. getting my ears flushed out once again so that I didn’t have to stand the muffled voices any longer along with some follow up lab work.
You know, there are several different routes I could have taken home from the Drs office but I felt the “highway” was calling my name; I believe it was part of His divine plan. As I was on the last few roads before getting home, I decided to stop and get gas; I almost drove right by but at the last moment figured since the sun was out in winter here in the Northeast, I should take advantage!
Around the time I exited the highway, I was thinking about my writings and wondering where the next inspiration would come from. I knew I had one already in the queue for after I returned from a short vacation so I put it out of my mind hoping that my upcoming trip would lend itself to some thoughts. In the back of my mind, the thought that I felt remiss on penning some thoughts on a particular person/event surfaced for a moment but I put it out of my mind because I was thinking I might need to make time to meet with the person to help refresh my memory; time I didn’t feel I have for awhile.
As I get out to pump my gas, I look up at the convenience store and see a gentleman, Ken, come out, whom I’ve known him and his wife, Sandy, for over 35 years. He waves, gets in his car and truth be told, scratches a lottery ticket off.
Ken & Sandy~~A very special couple
As I am pumping gas I think….should I stop and talk with him or just go about my business which was going to be washing the salt and snow off my car?
Since he was still in his car when I finished pumping my gas and a parking spot one car over from him became available, I decide to take time to chat with him after I patiently waited for him to finish scratching the lottery ticket for him to notice me standing there! Actually, I was hoping I would see him bolt out the door claiming a big winner; I wanted to be the first to congratulate him! 🙂 Unfortunately, that part didn’t happen.
We shared information on how our families were, talked about God and faith, recalled when we first met, calculating how many years ago that was, our healths and the like.

What a God moment it was that as we were talking, I realize that here is Ken in front of me; just the person I referenced above that I wanted to pen some thoughts on!
I mentioned to him that I have been feeling bad that I had not made right on a kind of “promise” I made to his daughter months ago back in 2019; something he didn’t even know about.
The promise to his daughter was to share the good news that God is still in the miracle business if Ken survived his latest ordeal in 2019 since Drs did not think Ken was going to make it due to the complicated heart issues he was experiencing. You see back in 2018, I had done a writing on God’s Miraculous Power. Can you spare a few moments to click that link and read about the miracles that God had performed in Ken’s life that far? His daughter and I mentioned those thoughts when he was sick this past year.
In 2019, Ken had 2 heart attacks, 8 heart caths and 3 prostate surgeries!! The one heart attack happened right when he was in ICU and they quickly wheeled him away to perform another heart cath! With the issues of his heart, we were all pleasantly surprised to see how God answered prayers; having him pull through despite the unfavorable odds!! Lots and lots of people from all over were praying him through.
Ken continues to push through, a little slower than before, with some limitations but he continues to play pickle ball three times a week, walks anywhere from 16,000-20,000 steps a day, and works part time despite being in his 70’s! Getting short of breath more easily is one of the limitations where he has had to “listen” to his body.
To complicate their lives further, Sandy fell and broke her leg during the summer when they wanted to be camping in their newer camper! Instead, Dr appts and physical therapy sessions required her time.
Warning: Do NOT put a stepstool on the fireplace ledge! 😉
God has continued to work miracles in Ken’s life this past year and I am so thankful we got to connect once again at the gas station. He has always been a huge inspiration in my faith journey and it has been a blessing to know him and his wife all these years.
They are such generous people always willing to have a housefull of people over for Sunday dinners for fellowship. They continue to do “ministry work” especially promoting a wonderful program for youth called Young Life. My youngest son’s life was hugely impacted through this program!

This God moment of running into Ken unexpectedly led to these thoughts so I may sleep better knowing I fulfilled my promise! Yes, the path on the drive home was God’s perfect timing to run into him walking out of the store at just the perfect moment; any other path home would not have yielded that opportunity!
It is also an opportunity for you, my dear readers!
In our conversation, Ken mentioned that on Feb 10th he is seeing another specialist in Long Island to see if that Dr can shed some thoughts on if there is anything else they can do to help Ken’s heart issues. His local cardiologist was instrumental in having him connect with this highly sought out Dr.
Would you please join in prayer for Ken, for the Lord to continue to guide the Drs and prayers of protection for Ken? I thank you very much!
May these thoughts remind you this week that….
Yes, God is still in the miracle business, my dear reader!
Rejoice in every moment…
Be grateful for every interaction with one another…
Share God’s goodness with all you meet…
Can you think of a miracle that God has done in your life and share it in the comment section below?
It is so important to share God working in our lives and to give glory to God through our sharing with each other. Thank you in advance.
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see. –Acts 3:16 (NIV)
