This scene is quite familiar to me as it is what I keep my eyes on much of the time as I am working out with an exercise video. My spirit is refreshed and working out is better when the sun shines through the window. I tend to focus on one of the crosses you can see in the window. At the same time, I listen to different church services to keep my mind thinking about the important things. This makes the exercising go by faster.
One day a “light bulb” turned on in my head, and I had a little revelation as the sun was shining through. Now, I actually see a two-fold message.
The sun shining brightly through the window represents Jesus, the Son. The crosses visible in the window represent our life. Notice there are two crosses joined showing our connectedness. Our lives, filled with Jesus’ light, are radiant and keep the ripple effect of His light shining to others. The original cross made a shadow of a new cross. Our lives become light for others, and we keep the light of Christ going. The light shining makes shadows into the lives of the people we meet.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” –John 8:12 (ESV)
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.” –Matthew 5:14-15 (ESV)
Indeed, Jesus is the light of the world. We have the assurance as we follow Him, we, too, have the light of life in us. Our light is to shine brightly in this world, just as Jesus did. When we have light, we cannot hide it. It shines into the lives of all those we meet.
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. –Psalm 91:1-2 (NLT)
As we live moment by moment with God, who is the Most High, our souls find rest in His shadow. We are well cared for and protected in His shadow no matter what happens. God is with us through the good and the bad. He is our God, and we can trust Him. His love, care, and protection are with us all the time.
My inspiration for you this week is to…
Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. –James 1:17 (NLT)
Thank you Christine, your words are always comforting !
