The month of September is special to me for multiple reasons. September is the month God planned for me to make my entrance into this world. In His infinite goodness, God created me and fashioned me in my mother’s womb. He wants all of us to know, love, and glorify Him by our lives on earth and to spend eternity with Him.
I have been blessed to know the Lord throughout my entire life and have felt the most growth in my relationship with Him during the last few years. As I have journeyed through the years, His presence in my life has taken on a deeper relationship. God’s great love is what I have experienced so powerfully recently with the way He reveals Himself to me.
I was reminded of these verses from the story of Esther:
Mordecai sent this reply to Esther: “Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?” –Esther 4:13-14 (NLT)
Esther realized she had a big decision to make. God’s sovereign will would be carried out, but would it be through her? If she took personal responsibility, she, along with her family, would be saved in addition to the Jews. God quite possibly made her queen for that purpose. Thankfully, she followed God’s sovereign will for her life, something we all should try to do. I pray my life may always be following God’s leading.
Another reason September is special to me is it was on September 5, 2014, when I published my first weekly thought with sharing God in the ordinary of life. After all, I am just a simple, ordinary person whose aim is to love and serve the Lord and others by my life. I set out to see if God would inspire me to weekly pen thoughts on a website. I am here to say that, seven years later, I can attest to God’s faithfulness in accomplishing that task to His glory!
These seven years have been a great adventure of trusting God and growth in seeing Him at work in life. Much to my further surprise, God provided a path and way for me to publish two devotional books from my writings, which was never on my radar. Only God’s perfect orchestration could do so. I am so grateful for the people I have met and opportunities of sharing Him with others through the books. He is molding and shaping me into the person He wants, which is a great feeling.
How fitting that I found this thought a friend shared with me a year ago:
Isn’t there great truth in that statement?
Yes, God…
- …made you!
- …placed you right where you are!
- …needs you where YOU are!
No matter where you are…
- …God has you right where you are supposed to be.
- …God’s presence is with you.
- …God has specific plans for your life.
I believe the Scripture story of Jesus Walking on the Water has the same theme as the above quote.
Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” –Matthew 14:22-31 (NIV)
–Jesus made the disciples get into the boat. ~ The disciples were right where Jesus wanted them.
–“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Come,” he said. ~ Jesus was reassuring Peter of His presence that was leading and guiding him.
–Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ~ Jesus is always reaching for our hand to lead us and catch us if we start to fall.
This week may you be encouraged to marvel at the fact that:
You are unique and nobody else can carry out the mission God has planned for you!
Glorify God and know your life is an essential part of the Kingdom of God!
God has great plans for your life. Keep being obedient to Him day by day as He leads you!
The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. –Psalm 138:8 (ESV)
Christine, I believe you are far from simple and ordinary. You’ve done what a lot of people will never do…..you’ve taken what God has given to you and you’ve shared and brought so many others to a place where love of God and their faith in all that is Him has grown and been strengthened over the past 7 years. We all should be so faithful ! Thank you !!
