Are you captivated when looking out on an ocean where it seems the water flows right into the horizon? Isn’t it mesmerizing to watch the waves and the tides? Why can’t we see the ocean’s end? Maybe God created it that way so we could marvel and be immersed in His awesomeness and His love.
If you are a faithful reader of this website, you might know that I have always loved the ocean waters since I was a young child. My family would frequent North Wildwood, NJ, where I would get sad and have tears in my eyes when it was time to leave. I believe it was because I experienced God’s presence and love while gazing out on the ocean and thought He wasn’t with me apart from the ocean. This quote seems like the perfect analogy to share to help us reflect on God’s love.
God’s love for us, His children made in His image, is so grand. God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for your sins and mine so that we have the privilege of spending eternity in heaven with Him. Do we live each day realizing the vastness of God’s love for us?

God’s love is endless, just as we can’t see the end of an ocean.
“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. –Isaiah 54:10 (ESV)
Isn’t it comforting to know that God’s love for us is steadfast, which means it is not subject to ever change? He loves us regardless of what we have done or failed to do. God’s love for each one of His children is unwavering and faithful. Even when we don’t love or accept Him, God’s love for us is never-ending. He always wants the best for us. Let that truth settle deep into your soul.
God’s love is deeper than the deepest waters of an ocean.
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. –Ephesians 3:18-19 (NLT)
In this Scripture, Paul prays we may know in our hearts and experience how all-encompassing God’s love truly is for each of us. He knows our finite minds can’t quite fathom the deepness of it, but we can experience it on different levels as we see glimpses of His love when we see Him working in our lives. Our lives become richer when we live deeper in God’s love.
God’s love is always with us, even in the storms and when the ocean waves are in full force.
When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown… –Isaiah 43:2 (NLT)
God’s love is so great for us, that even when the waves of deep trials try to overtake us, He assures us He will be with us. Even when the waves are higher than us, God will not let us drown. God is always with us, helping us through. What a wonderful God we have!

When did you experience the depth of God’s love for you?
What storm has God’s love gotten you through?
