VERBAL SUNSHINE

This quote from social media caught my eye:

“Encouragement is like verbal sunshine. It costs nothing and warms people’s hearts.”  ~ Nicky Gumbel

Upon researching the quote more, I saw this expanded version of it. Let’s delve deeper into its meaning and how we can apply it to our lives.

ENCOURAGEMENT

As Christians, we know that God has given us all gifts to help build up the Kingdom of God while on this earth; ways to glorify God in our everyday lives. I have been thinking specifically about the gift of encouragement.

I penned thoughts on the topic of Our Gifts back in 2017. Click here  to read those thoughts.

We have different gifts based on the grace that was given to us. So if your gift is prophecy, use your gift in proportion to your faith. If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others. If it is encouraging, devote yourself to encouraging others. If it is sharing, share generously. If it is leading, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping, help cheerfully. –Romans 12:6-8 (ISV) Continue reading “ENCOURAGEMENT”

INFLUENCES

This past week has been a busy, bittersweet one for me as the time came for my youngest child to embark on the next chapter of his life~~the exciting, for him, College Bound years!  New opportunities, new people to meet, new things to experience await my son.

His siblings are currently out of the house as well so this transition will be a little harder as my husband and I adjust to the empty nest; a much quieter house than we have been accustomed to for over 25 years.

Through a few series of events that occurred on his last official day at home, I got to thinking about the theme of “influences.”  Continue reading “INFLUENCES”

THE CHEERLEADERS

Challenging myself to do new and different things is something I try to be open to lately.  For me, I find this helps me grow as a person, expanding my horizons, and builds my confidence knowing I am capable of doing things that at first may seem impossible.

What is really powerful is when others may step in and cheer you on lending a little extra encouragement when you need it most.

While at a Christian dude ranch in June, I figured I had to go out of my comfort zone and attempt riding a horse at least once. After all, a few  years back my first time riding a horse was at Virginia Beach and last year I did survive a horse ride in the hills of Curacao though I was scared to do so! S.A.F.E.

In this life, it is so vital to reach out and share with others–to show thyself friendly.  Being an introvert, it is a lesson that has taken me a long time to learn.

Growth in our lives and faith can occur more rapidly as we make time to share the Lord working in our lives, specific needs we have, the simple everyday ups and downs, and just as important, our struggles. Continue reading “S.A.F.E.”

SUFFERING

Suffering

A word that I think all of us prefer not to think about or have to deal with. But, unfortunately, on this earth, it is a fact of life and is unavoidable. Yes, we all suffer with different things at different times in our lives. Sometimes others can tell we are suffering, and other times our suffering may not be visible to others.
