PRISM OF LIGHT

With the darkest day of the year upon us, let’s brighten things up with a reflection on being a prism of light.

In optics, a prism is a transparent, solid body that disperses or reflects light. When white light, which is composed of the colors of a rainbow, passes through a prism, a spectrum of color is produced, spreading more light and beauty.

When I think about the word “light,” the first thing that comes to mind is how Jesus is the Light of the World! How fitting that we celebrate Jesus’ birth around the time of the darkest day of the year, even though we know Jesus wasn’t born in December. Continue reading “PRISM OF LIGHT”

RAINBOW REFLECTIONS

It was a wonderful blessing to spend this past weekend at a retreat at one of my Holy Places on Canandaigua Lake. God is so good and faithful, revealing His presence and love to us through His Word, the beauty of nature, and the people He puts in our path.

The one afternoon and evening I enjoyed spending time alone outside viewing the beautiful scenery instead of being inside doing different activities. The lake was tranquil, the sun was out for a bit, and some darker clouds moved in at one part of the sky. Continue reading “RAINBOW REFLECTIONS”

RAINBOWS

As soon as I started driving to go to my daily walking spot, it began to downpour.  I kept going as it looked a little brighter in the direction I was headed.  When I got out of my car, it was just sprinkling a little. I grabbed my big golf umbrella and started walking.  After a few minutes, I put my umbrella up as the rain picked up.  Without warning, I found myself walking with no umbrella for shelter as the wind blew it inside out. I was not able to close it properly.  I hoped nobody saw me walking back to my car carrying this inside out, poles sticking out everywhere umbrella. Continue reading “RAINBOWS”
